Temple Israel Putnam Valley Peekskill was founded in 1956, when Lake Peekskill was a summer community for New Yorkers looking to get away from the city. Temple Israel is now open year-around, offering residents from all over Westchester and Putnam counties a Conservative Synagogue rich in tradition yet uniquely accommodating for the needs of today.
At Temple Israel, you will find a welcoming and inclusive congregation. We proudly offer full ritual honors to both men and women, and encourage all members to participate in Services, and Services are held in English and Hebrew. Temple Israel is the perfect place to celebrate life events: A Bris, Baby Naming, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, or to come and say kaddish.
We have Holiday Services and celebrations throughout the year, including Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Chanukah, Purim and a Passover Community Seder.
Temple Israel supports the community-at-large, collecting food and clothing for the needy, and encouraging their B'Nai Mitzvot to give back as well.
We offer all of this while keeping dues low. If you are interested in becoming a member, would like to sponsor a kiddish or other mitzvot, or would like more information, please click the links above - or just stop by one Shabbat morning. We would love to see you!
We are open every Saturday for Shabbat during the Spring/Summer season (May-October), and the 1st and 3rd Saturdays November-April. More information is available on our Events page.
